The book is structured so that its activities become progressively more challenging, starting with simple activities (with hints and tips provided to guide children new to these activities), then progressing to more complex challenges, allowing children to use and practice the skills learned earlier on in the book.

Many of the activities are based on speech and language development games (great for practicing Christmas vocabulary), with festive word puzzles and rhymes, "What's that sound?" challenges and even some fun Christmas Ling Sound colouring activities too. A range of challenges encourage children to think about how they experience Christmas through each of the five senses, such as sorting food into sweet or savoury, and deciding whether different things are hot or cold. Other activities support the development of cognitive and early maths skills (such as repeating patterns, counting and sorting).
